3TB Hard Drive Review – Overview
There is really not much words to describe this Seagate 3TB hard drive.
It has a LED light on the front part of the device which will be on to indicate that it is running.
Appears to be pretty solid built, it doesn’t really have magnesium alloy body, but since I am going to leave it in a place on my desk, most likely it is more than acceptable.
This Seagate 3TB hard drive runs extremely quiet all the time (I guess because it doesn’t include any cooling fans). Read-write heads have become quiet too.
Apart of no cooling fan, there aren’t many ventilation in it, but it handles the heat very well.
Just avoid stacking it with other drives, otherwise, the middle one will get hot.
The set up was phenomenally easy. You can just plug your power cable in, plug this unit’s USB 3.0 cable which comes with it, and plug it into your computer’s USB port, and you’re simply done.
It’s very simple to spot a USB 3.0 port, it has blue color, while the 2.0 ports are usually white.
It comes with all of its cabling, and a plug which is quite big and bulky in my opinion.
While you set it up, the disk will appear in your computer without issue, and giving you a an option to register your device. (it is optional).
There will be a few files from Seagate on the disk, I personally deleted them without problems.
3TB Hard Drive Review – Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive
Speaking for data transfer, drag and drop files, copying and pasting, anything you want, it will work with no hitch. 3TB is really a lot of storage if you want to make a copy of your valuable digital documents and files.
It took only around 15 minutes to copy my 50GB files to it, so speed is definitely a few times faster than USB 2.0 external hard drives. Now, it is really effortless to have my two computer data are backed up.
The lack of power switch of this device can be irritating for some people, however it is really not a problem to me, since it can automatically sleep when you don’t use it for a few minutes.
I even find the sleeping feature is really effective, when I use it with my lenovo G770 laptop, there are times when I have to leave it fast, I just put the laptop to sleep, and I didn’t even need to be worried because the Seagate 3TB hard drive is unplugged.
3TB Hard Drive Review – Summary
Overall, If you are considering about getting an external hard-drive, rather than a 1tb hard drive or 2tb standard USB 2.0 external storages, you will likely concern about the speed.
I am using external drives for mainly backing my home computers, and to copy a 500-1TB files can really take so long, even when I transfer RAW format photos with USB 2.0 device was incredibly frustating.
This unit is a really good unit for that price. Good 3TB storage, fast speed, runs quiet, reputable manufacturer and good price.
I will definitely recommend this Seagate 3TB hard drive to those who look for a backup device or external storage for their computers.
