Acer Aspire S3-951-6646 Review – Overview

This Acer Aspire S3-951-6646 is actually my first brand new laptop after the past years I have used Dell XPS home desktop, and other laptops brands.

I did some research on the major features that I need, and also looked for the model that has most important features to me.

For instance, I do not deduct for not having an optical drive. (read more lacking features here)

Appearance wise, this Acer Aspire S3 body is very solid. You won’t find creaking or twisting, all feels solid. Thin lid, opens and closes very smooth, there is hinges’s binding.

The machine itself is very portable, so easy to carry around. It has 320GB hdd, standard built-in web camera, and card reader.

The fan noise is runs very quiet, it gets warm after a long use, but it will not get hot.

I got 5-6 hours of battery life before plugging it back on my charger, so I really used it to surf internet, play some videos and working with Photoshop. The screen is firm, and really easy to clean.

Now about the ports, they are all easily accessible from the machine’s side. The included USB ports are very easy to use with another devices, and placed in the correct way.

For internet connectivity, the wifi works well, I am happy about it because I use the wifi for all of my network connectivity.

Acer Aspire S3-951-6646 Features

The 13.3 inch LED backlit display is bright and clear. I have not had any problems with the viewing angles in normal environment lighting, however the screen is attracts finger print, but with any soft clothes, you will be able to clean it up easily.

The 1.3MP HD built-in webcam does its job as expected for a laptop’s webcam, the picture is not having the greatest quality, but really acceptable for a laptop’s web camera.

The keyboard is very solid and has chicklet style, and it is a bit bigger than any typical keyboard on a 10 inch netbooks.

The keys feel really nice to type on, and feels solid. Different with most laptop’s keys, they don’t feel like they are going to break, and they are also quiet, without any tactile noises to them when you type on the keyboard. I really like Acer‘s keyboard.

The trackpad is large, has solid surface, and very well responsive.

This laptop is very different than my older laptops, not so much bloatware! start up time is incredibly fast, it takes only around 10 seconds to the desktop from logging on time.

This Acer Aspire S3-951-6646 has second generation of a core i5 processor in it, not sure how it will be compared with today’s i7 processor machine, but this small portable thing is definitely the fastest laptop I have.
