Dell XPS 15 Review X15L-1024ELS Laptop

Dell XPS 15 Review – X15L-1024ELS

This Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS Laptop (Elemental Silver) is exactly what I wanted, and if you a person like myself, this laptop is the machine you will want to get. (sold at $825 here )

I have waited for the right machine for a year, from the new Macbook pro, Asus, and many others, considering all specifications in that period of time, the reliability and price are also my consideration apart of the specifications.

I was considering the older version of this Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS and also almost purchased it, but then they released the newer versions with the newer processor, Sandy Bridge.

This CPU will increase your laptop’s speed when you run any programs that your current CPU chip cannot manage.

Furthermore, the 6GB of RAM is more than enough for a daily computing use, and after the 6GB of RAM, better performance will not be noticeable.

This Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS actually replaces my Dell inspiron that I purchased in 2006, received it two weeks ago, always using it and it is never warm.

Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS

I am not a heavy gamer, but always runs more than 4/5 programs on my machine. As I expected, the CPU always stays under 30%, I’m really pleased.

The 640GB SATA hard drive at 7200rpm is a big bonus for me.

I don’t really mind a laptop’s hard drive’s size, but I really look for a laptop with 7200rpm hard drive speed, and other laptops are only on 5400rpm.

I value the SSD’s speed.

The other great features of this Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS laptop to me is the USB 3.0 ports, and HDMI port.

I needed a machine with HDMI port that I can hook it up to watch my videos on a HDTV.And the USB 3.0 (there are two of them!) is really efficient, since I need to backup lot of TBs of my digital files, and I do not have enough patience to do those backups with a USB 2.0 machines when there are laptops which offer eSATA or USB 3.0.

The sound quality is really great, I have never heard any good sound from a laptop before. Dell did a good job with this Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS Laptop (Elemental Silver).

The battery life is good but not great, and of course this will really depend on your usage, but it is definitely better than my previous Dell laptop.

Dell XPS 15 Review – Pros, Cons, and Limitations

a. It would be great if this Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS includes a number pad.
b. It is heavy, but it should be fine for those features and functions.
c. You have to wait long for the free Xbox 360

Be ware, no numberpad!

These are my pros:
a. The specs of this Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS should be great for a lot of users, speedy i7 sandy bridge processor, combined with 640GB HDD at 7200rpm, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M graphic cards.
b. Reasonable price for those features and all technology that I am getting, I am sure I can find some similar specs’ed laptops but they definitely will have a donwgrade on something, hard drive rpm speed, or RAM and their graphic card.
c. The USB 3.0 and HDMI ports.
d. Free Xbox 360 if you are a student and qualified user.

To be honest, the Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS downfalls will not impact me much.

In summary, if you really searching for a fast laptop, or if other laptops cannot meet your expectations, this Dell laptop will do, for sure. The Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS is the best Dell laptop I have purchased.
