Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Review – Overview
The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 is actually an office applications machine, however, this machine is definitely still my best scanner that I have ever owned.
As a computer user and an heavy Evernote user,I saw that this unit was recommended by Evernote, so I decided to take the risk and purchasing this sheetfed scanner.(I have had difficulties with a flatbed scanner).
However, I am willing to sacrifice a flatbed feature to save space because of its compact form.
Also, I have currently started to use my digital camera to take big pictures.
Apart of nice appearance and compact form factor, this unit can scan at 600dpi with incredible speed.
Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Features and Capabilities
The setup was incredibly simple, but unfortunately, the software instructions were too complicated to me.
There is a key that actually is used to double-click the systems tray’s icon, and not the launch icon. Other than that point, it was easy to configure.
You will be able to expand it, or fold it back up very easily.
Although the price looked very pricey at first, I am glad I spent my money for the right machine with a good combination of speed, convenience and image quality.
This machine’s software also packs Adobe Acrobat 9 (Standard Edition), that comes with at least $250 standalone price.
The capability to create any PDF files, scan your business documents into pdf files is incredibly important in almost all of any business, absolutely well worth every of your penny.
Speaking of scanning, this Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 can scan very quick that I had to keep my “Evernote” application window opened so I can ensure myself that the machine was really running.
I set it up with my Evernote as my default action so it is literally running with one button scanning.
Here are some unique features that this Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 does that amazed me;
Ability to scan business cards. Most of sheedfed scanners have some troubles to work with business cards. This ScanSnap handle them with ease, it can scan the card both side if you prefer.
Furthermore, this scanner can scan multiple pages or wrinkled docs, yes the result will still show wrinkles but they are perfectly scanned.
My most favourite feature is the pages Auto rotate. When I scan a document especially the one with portrait on a side, and on the other side with landscape tablet, one click of a button, and this machine perfectly scanned those both sides, and automatically detected which side with portrait and lanscape, then it rotated the doc’s page, and made a PDF file which was proceeded directly into my Evernote.
The only downside is this machine needs quite a while to get familiar with, small example, you will need to learn things which are in the menus. I even couldn’t find out how to merge a few documents until today, even though it should be done easily inside the Acrobat.
Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Review – Summary
Overall, after working and have problems with other devices for years, this device is something which works and very nice one to work with.
For Evernote I am using, this machine has completely changed the way I use it, just take the original docs away, and scan everything.Things are now searchable and accessible, I would definitely recommend this Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500.
