HP Pavilion DV6-6116NR First Impression
My first week with HP Pavilion DV6-6116NR, and I can only say, most are just positives thus far, only one minor negative which I will mention later on.
Got it at $449.
In the last 10 years, I’ve had perhaps a few HP (Hewlett-Packard) 15 inch laptops, not really because they have failed me, it’s because I always replace my old laptops with the one every few years.
In my opinion, HP machines are great laptops, I really love them. I got a Toshiba satellite machine a few years back for several months, and then the graphic card went out all of sudden.
Also experienced a compaq laptop which I really thing it worked fine, but it wasn’t as beautiful as my HP laptop. I am a HP’s fan.
The only big issue I have had using their laptops may be the batteries. They need to be replaced too often, but it can be easily replaced and are at low costs too.
HP Pavilion DV6-6116NR specs
HP Pavilion DV6-6116NR is very light and thin, I guess it’s around 1/2 of my older laptop. One of my favorite feature is definitely the keyboard, you will have so much space for your finger to type.
The second generation of i5-2430M Sandy-Bridge Processor (at 2.4GHz) works really quick, my fastest machine, ever to me. I’ve been browsing the internet the whole day, Yahoo or Facebook, all of them work on the separated tabs, and they work smoothly so far, truly pleased.
Next point, everyone knows that laptops are known for their poor speakers quality. With my older laptops, I’d need my headphones if I want to hear music or DVD with my laptop in my room, but not with this machine.
This HP Pavilion‘s model speakers are hands down, without a doubt, the best speakers on a laptop that I’ve ever heard.
I set the speaker at 50% today while watching a movie today where with my older machine it was actually at 75% or 100% whole volume. On this HP Pavilion DV6-6116NR full volume is really loud.
Actually laptop’s speakers is one thing that doesn’t really bother me. Laptops speakers happen to be poor so I truly can accept this issue. I really need a laptop and I don’t care if I must use my headphones for the sound, but with this unit, I will not need any heaphones – cool.
The 15.6-inch HD BrightView LED screen is excellent (with 1366 x 768 res), I absolutely see the difference between this new laptop and my old one, this one is perfect for multimedia. Can’t expect for a better display, unless I had to pay double the price, watching movie in this laptop feels like watching a blu-ray.
For the battery life, I did a test for this review, starting with full battery, I watched movies, and while DVD is running, I even did some internet browsing, at the end, I got around 4-5 hours, really good.
HP Pavilion DV6-6116NR negative
One negative which I can see is the casing looks very shiny, and it’s extremely smooth, that you’d definitely be worrying falling it or getting your laptop out. I use it mainly at home, so I don’t worry about it, but if you are using it to work or school and have to carry it around, I’d recommend to get those laptop case for it.
In short, this laptop plays movies and music, has best laptop skeapers, great keyboard and performance.
The price of around $400 is definitely reasonable for i5 processor, 4gigs of RAM, 640hdd, would definitely recommend this laptop to everyone who wants a 15 inch laptop for work or school and even for personal laptop at home.
