HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1020 overview
I was looking for a PC for light computing, almost 97% for emails, MS Office, and surfing Internet.
My main goal was a small desktop that would not take so much place on my desk.
I did not want a laptop, since I already had a pretty big monitor for it. After doing research at small PCs out there, this HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1020 Desktop Computer – Black appeared to be the best value. (found at $300 here)
I was very pleasantly surprised by this PC. As I expected it, this Slimline s5-1020 fits really nice on my desk.
Performance wise, this desktop has a top notch speed.
With its Intel Pentium Processor E6800, 4GB of RAM, and Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, this slim desktop is real fast to launch applications such as Ms Office 2010, and my Firefox browser, they start up almost immediately.
The best performance will be for basic computing usage or office computing due to its installed 4GB of memory (RAM).
For this $300 price range systems will usually have 2GB of RAM, and you will really find a big difference in system’s performance, especially when you are working with multiple applications or windows at once.
Since most of us often leave our email application open and running, also leave a few website pages open sometimes, more memory is really important for a desktop!
This HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1020 Desktop is really quiet, as I am concerned, the system runs very silent, it hardly ever runs its fan when you use it for a normal computing.
It is shipped with HP keyboard and mouse, but the keyboard is too sensitive for me, therefore I still use my old keyboard.
I love the design and appearance of this HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1020 Desktop.
With its glossy nice finish, and also the effectively designed components, this HP s5 model is very stylish.
For instance, the power button is illuminated and placed on the top part of the desktop.
This placement makes very easy to use, and also allows you moving the unit away while it is running.
This illuminated power button will change color once your PC in a stand-by mode.
For most computer users, Windows 7 is the best version of Windows Operating system, easy for navigation and to learn.
The performance of Windows 7, especially on a modern computer like this HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1020 Desktop, is better than Windows Vista.
There are a lot of “HP” preinstalled applications. Nowadays, almost all of PCs have preinstalled softwares, but you can remove them easily via Control Panel of Windows.
Many users, however will still find those preinstalled programs helpful, and will not want to replace them, and others will simply remove them for better system’s speed.
One thing that I really recommend for this HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1020 Desktop Computer is, remove the antivirus which is preinstalled. Because it slows your system down.
