Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 Review – Overview
I purchased this Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 40812HU two weeks ago because I wanted to use it for my multimedia centre, by connecting to my HDTV for netflix, downloading videos, music and other multimedia tasks.
This desktop worked as a multimedia center like a champ.
The Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 40812HU does a fantastic job at what it’s expected to do, playing or streaming multimedia content to my HDTV, surfing the internet, playing light games, and running standard PC programs. (got it at $299.99)
Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 40812HU Specs and Features
Appearance wise, this desktop is so small that you can easily tuck it away, and you can use it anywhere you would like.
Most of the time, my friends wonder what this thing is. What they know is it is a tiny black box next to my blu-ray player, they wonder, “wow that little thing is a computer? it pretty much looks like a receiver for a remote control”.
It does come with a mini wireless Lenovo keyboard and mouse, which works flawless eventhough the keys are too small for me, and it was hard to type on, so I prefer using my old full size wireless keyboard and mouse.
Performance wise, this Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 40812HU desktop is a very fast system. The start-up was a breeze, and it loads computer applications quick without issues. The 2 gigs of memory is quite plenty for my basic computer tasks.
Overall performance is extremely good with websites launching immediately and applications such as Ms Office appear to run with no crash.
The dual core Atom D525 is shockingly fast. Together with the Nvidia ION graphics, it does handle 1080p videos with no issues. HDMI video with audio over HDMI worked instantly out of the box. Lenovo IdeaCentre nettop is really a plug and play device.
For streaming video online, this Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 40812HU STREAMS netflix and also Hulu at HD, make sure that you update the Nvidia ION driver, and install the very recent flash version in the machine. I have no issues whatsoever to stream full sceen videos in my browser.
For media and network hub, I could easily connect this Lenovo IdeaCentre nettop to an HDTV, a printer, my external hard drive, and also a scanner. This thing plays my videos or music from my external hard drive without any problems, it is a great hub if you want to work with your files from and to the computer to printer or scanner and of course an external hard drive.
For HTPC usage, this device has exceeded my requirements, plus, it is a very good regular desktop. Getting this whole package for $299.99 is simply flat fantastic.
