Linksys E4200v2 Review – Features
In the past, I have experienced so many problems to get wireless connectivity access in my house – simply everywhere.
My house is not big at all, it is just like a cage, I got very poor wireless access, even mobile phone signal too.
With this Linksys E4200v2 however, has changed things because of these two main features:
It has 2.4ghz 3 streams- 450 Mb/s which is very useful for my 2011 MacBook Pro (Mc700LL/A model) which has 3 antennas.
This Linksys router is providing full 900 mbit/s. The “450 mbit/s 80211n and 450 mbit/s 802.11a” combination made the connection very strong whenever I am closed to it, and whenever I am in second floor of my house.
The set up was very easy, only took a few minutes for the basic set up and also to apply my other devices, such as, printer, my kid’s gaming devices, all of our laptops, ftp servers, and radio.
You can simply plug your router in, insert the CD and all is set.
To secure your network, it also has automatic set up, so you don’t have to configure anything.
For anyone who has more than one computer, the Cisco connect software will ask for your USB drive, and then all of the settings that you are currently have will be copied to the drive.
You can simply hook your USB to the other computer and all is set to go. You can simply click the icon on your screen, and that is it.
The Linksys E4200v2 will automatically connect, and type your password.
Furthermore, if you like me, having Mac and PC system, you don’t have purchase another USB drive, because one USB will work on both systems.
Linksys E4200v2 Specs
These are some other features that I really like from this Linksys model – it has 2 frequency bands (5ghz and 2.4ghz), 4x Gigabit ethernet ports, 1x USB port if you want to share storage or add printers, Full 3×3 MIMO antenna, Network traffic Priority, Capability for guest network, and parental controls feature.
These enhanced features, includes high encryption, and security, also it has an option enhance your gaming experience (I’ve personally not tried it yet).
The USB port is a bonus if you want to share your documents off an attached device with full control to access over the internet or on your local network.
Linksys E4200v2 – How the two bands work
Furthermore, using those devices which are actually wireless G helps in keeping the speedy 5ghz system, totally clutter free from having so many devices on the network, and from being forced to deal with the signals from non Wireless N.
One thing I want to note here is, as the router works on two bands, the 5ghz signal performs more efficient if you have kind of view to this device- probably a thin wall or even floor anywhere in between. This will not be as efficient at transferring through rooms as 2.4ghz frequency.
You also can incredibly increase Linksys E4200v2 performance with a combined wires and a couple of separated bands, however, to do this, you will definitely need a few testing to check and a very good planning.
All in all, I’m very impressed.
