This is the best and most recommended must have plugins that very important for your blog.
1. Akismet.
Hard to pronounce but very useful if you want to protect your site from spammy comments. By default Akismet is already installed in your wordpress blog once it is installed. You just need to activate it and it should work to catch the spammers.
Here is a video how to use your akismet plugin.
2. All in seo pack plugin.
I guess almost every wordpress blogger have this plugin. It’s very useful to optimize your blog, that can be found easily by your targeted visitors via search engines. Watch how i configure my All in SEO pack plugin options settings
3. Google XML Sitemaps.
This plugin will generate sitemap.xml file automatically once you activate it. Do we have to install it? if you want Search engines index your site fast, then, yes, you really have to try this plugin. See the video tutorial how to build your wordpress sitemap.xml.
There are my three must have recommended plugins, as too many plugins will only slow down your site. For those who visit this blog regularly, notice i remove lots of plugins and only keeping the most important ones. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or contact me.

Thank you for this post!! There are so many plugins it’s hard to know which ones to use.
The “All in seo pack plugin” seems to have a free and a paid for (pro) version. Is there a big difference between the two?
@Aileen, True, there are tons of plugins, but choose the most important for you as it can slow down your site.
I have never tried the paid version of all in seo pack, but i guess there is some differences. As i am aware of, most bloggers use the free version, i do too, and it works all fine.
Thanks for commenting :)
Kimi, You still use All in One SEO plugin even with Thesis Theme? If so..what kind of benefit are you seeing?
Chung,
yes, i still use AIO plugin, this is because i did not have Thesis theme at the time i started this blog..I switched my themes 3 times, Thesis is my last theme i will apply.
If you use Thesis at the beginning, AIO is not needed, but when you deactivate AIO, traffic will drop, my blogger friend has this isssue as well.
How does the AIO plugin compare to Wordpress SEO plugin(by Yost)? I am using Thesis theme also and am confused about which would be best to use. Thanks for your help!
Steve
Steve,
I personally never use Yoast seo plugin..so i am afraid i can’t make comparison between those two..
Let us say for some reason that a user has to deactivate SEOPRESSOR, or even discontinue using it. What happens to the traffic and SEO ? Is it pretty much like AIO – that once you use it you cannot get rid of it ?
Is there an option to transfer the SEO stuff like meta-data to Thesis (assuming that SEOPRESSOR overides Thesis SEO options)
Thanks a lot for your helpful posts
Hi Sam,
I guess once we have SEOpressor we have to use it, otherwise the bold, italic, and seo optimized keywords would not be optimized anymore, and because of this, it will affect the SERPs I guess.
So far, I don’t find that option.
Thanks for coming across
Kimi.
