Microsoft should be on top ,it is far far better than AVG and Avira ,i have used both Avg and Avira and i just don’t like them since they may cause system failure due to fake detection of system files and would strongly recommend people to please use Microsoft security essentials or Avast or Bitdefender if you want to be safe.

Hi Dina, You really should try another antivirus program because AVG really hasn’t been top dog in the free antivirus field since version 7.5. In the list you have posted I would say it should rank 4th or 5th at best. AVG is still so popular mainly because they developed such a big following when they were on top, and people don’t normally take the time to learn what really is the best. I’ve been working on computers for a living since 1995 and for the past year or 2 I can honestly say that most of the computers brought to me with virus or malware problems have AVG installed. What does that say for AVG? There are better options out there than AVG. Avast, Avira, and Microsoft Security Essentials all easily outrank AVG. And it’s not just a matter of opinion, it’s a matter of fact.

Hey Doon,

I have tried many antiviruses, and chosen AVG for the free software. And I am still using AVG and stick with it because it works just great until now.

Thanks for the input.

G-Data Antivirus -While at the #1 spot, the tests done by PC World shows that it

definitely swept away most of the malware found on the computer, and they liked

its clean interface. However, they did find that it offered little instruction and

guidance when working with other software.

Hey, why nobody is mentioning Avast.. I think avast is the best in terms of free ones. Microsoft is very new in this area. I doubt it is reliable… Another one would be kaspersky. Heard good about it as well. This list also could be helpful.

Well currently i think even microsoft security essential antivirus is also rocking.. Currently using that i found it really good… less resource consuming and detecting almost everything… only interactive mode of firewall is missing…

Let me tell ya you are paying for these programs so they can pay hackers to make new hacks.

MSE ? Who knows how to fix windows better that any other company. Do you really think microsft will build scrap. No they want you to keep buying PC’s with windows. So dont pay $$$ go with the best for free MSE.

Also MSE dont kill your PC with bs software.

I build and work on PC’s and the other day I uninstalled mcaffe and installed MSE. It found 392 threats. The lady paid for mcaffe.

Why buy scrap when you can get the real deal for free.

I was wondering why every time I look for the best antivirus products I get so many different opinions? I was just on antivirushelpcenter.com and they have different products than your site.

zbross, i have to disagree with you. i used the same opinion as you with regards to paying for antivirus, but i changed my mind after the various free versions and brands i tried kept allowing trojans or viruses crawling in my pc. i now pay for my avg threat labs (avgthreatlabs.com) and i feel safer as i can track the safety of the pages i visit. indeed, i upgraded to this versions recently, but it does seem to work just fine…

In all antivirus now days in 2011 the Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012 is a great antivirus.
becoz of:-

1] Fastest scanning speed.
2] Low system resource used ( in 2012 version BD takes only 1.2MB of ram…Surprise!!!!!!!!)
3] Auto-pilot mode for silent security.
4] Scan Dispatcher – Triggers system scans when resource usage falls below a certain
threshold to avoid any impact on your system’s performance.
5] Search Advisor – Gives advance warning of risky websites right in your Google and Bing
