Toshiba NB505-N508GN 10.1-Inch Netbook (Green) Review ; Shift Key

Toshiba NB505-N508GN 10.1-Inch Netbook Overview

I have owned this little Toshiba NB505-N508GN netbook for a couple weeks, and I’m really sastified with it. (Got it at $200)

I purchased it because of its portability since my Macbook Pro is really powerful but weighs around 5 pounds while this little machine weighs only 2,5 pounds, barely notice that I am actually carrying it whenever I am on the go.

I constantly get around 8 hours of battery life by working with moderate use (wifi on, browsing internet, and listening my music) and that is just fantastic.

This is actually where the Atom processor’s energy saving does show how energy saving this netbook really is. (2,4 Windows Experience Index)

A lot better than my MacBook Pro which usually gets only 2 hours of battery life. I hardly ever take the charger of this netbook along with me!

Toshiba NB505-N508GN Specs and Highlights

This Toshiba NB505-N508GN netbook offers just about everything I want for college, fun, as well as traveling.

Some other high light with this netbook is definitely the display. It’s spectacular to be as compact as it is!

I’m certainly not worried with the size since the quality is exceptional. This was not the first selling point to me as I’m not really somebody who wants the display to be real to color however it is a good perk.

The 10.1 inch screen appears to be small in the beginning, but the stunning colors and good resolution result in a very nice viewing experience.

I’m also loving the full-sized keyboard, and the raised rubber feet rear. I haven’t needed to lose any kind of speed during my typing, and I also never have suffered any sort of wrist pain.

The touch pad is a little oversensitive, however overall it isn’t really bad and I am not getting annoyed whenever I work with it. I would suggest purchasing a mouse for this mini netbook if you are planning to use it regularly, because I believe it will enhance the productivity and comfort levels.

The point that it arrives with basic Ms Office applications is a plus! They actually use advertisements however I did not find the advertisements irritating. I finally ended up investing to full edition of Office because I had to compose Ms powerpoint presentations for college.

In my point of view, Windows 7 Starter operating system isn’t as poor as many people think. Of course you can not make a dual monitor setup, but you will find ways around a few other problems.

If you wish to alter your background, there is also a program known as Oceanis “Change Background” that enables you doing that. And when you really want all those capabilities, you’re able to use Windows Anytime Upgrade to go up to Home Premium.

Although I will just stay with Starter since I don’t really need any of those features for this netbook.

Unfortunately, the bloatware from Toshiba is insane! You will find a ton of apps that you do not need with this netbook. I promptly decided to uninstall lots of the bloatware and even eliminated a few items from operating at start-up, and this increased boot up time by around 4 secs.

This Toshiba NB505 netbook model includes only 1GB of Memory. At this point, again, for anyone who is simply using this unit for browsing the web and running basic tasks, then this will work just great. But, I found that this was sluggish while playing games. This is definitely not a gaming device, so be aware.

Irritating Shift Key

The shift key on the right is actually about 1 / 2 the size it’s on the regular laptop, that was sort of frustrating in the beginning, however I am becoming familiar with it.

Toshiba NB505-N508GN Review – Summary

All around, I really like the netbook. It just has the work done, also it provides extremely comfortable usage even with its small dimension. My partner got one too because I do adore mine a lot!

I ‘m delighted using this netbook. This Toshiba NB505-N508GN netbook can do a lot, and also all sorts of things I can’t do with my other laptop.
