Toshiba Satellite L755-S5349 Review – Overview
I bought this Toshiba Satellite L755-S5349 laptop because of its brand good reputation, specifications, and the price tag which is affordable. (got it at $429)
This Toshiba Satellite L755 model is sort of “silver” and “black” (described as Fusion Finish in Matrix Silver) and I couldn’t be more delighted with it.
After two weeks of use, I have to say, this Toshiba Satellite works very well, fast, lightweight and does not get warm while running for a period of time.
The 15.6 inch screen is sharp and vivid, with 16:9 aspect ration of the screen it’s really nice for all multimedia, but also nice for other computing tasks, such as editing docs or browsing web pages.
Additionally, it has HDMI out so you can connect this laptop to your HDTV to use the both screens.
I have actually streamed a movie on my my TV, and work with my office doc on my laptop’s screen at the same time, and it worked great with no issue due to its powerful 2nd generation of i3 processor and graphics.
Toshiba Satellite L755-S5349 – Specs, Features and Drawbacks
The keyboard is well made and feels solid, however I have to mention it has “odd” space bar, which is extra shortened to the right side, and in the beginning, I always hit “Alt” key with my thumb rather than the “space” key.
I had this little issue for the first days, but fortunately I am used to it very quick, and it’s definitely worth to have a full size keyboard with the 10 keys numpad.
The battery of this laptop is pretty good with the standard 6 cell battery, by using the “eco mode”, I am always getting more than 5 hours of the battery life. I really like the feature to track its power usage.
One small example, I have been working with word document, chatting on skype, and watch a movie via DVD drive, and my usage was always under 20 watts.
Also, it notifies you how much time you still have besides telling the battery’s percentage.
One big surprise this Toshiba Satellite L755-S5349 includes a built-in webcam (something which was not in the item description) and the package of software that is included with it.
Another pleasant surprise is this laptop operates very cool, I could use my old laptop to be a hot plate while this laptop does not even get warm while operating.
I don’t have a complaint about the speakers, in fact they are not too exciting. I find the speakers are tiny, and the sound is only half way good with all settings of the volume being equal, I guess there should be a way to tweak the sound settings, but I have not tested this part of the computer configuration yet.
Speaking of computer gaming, I personally game with my home desktop. So far, I tried to run WoW, SC2 with medium settings and 1366 x 768 resolution, got them on more than 30 FPS.
Toshiba Satellite L755-S5349 Review – Summary
To summarize, this machine is not a perfect laptop, but it’s exactly what I need. If I would want a perfect one, I am definitely not going to get one in a $429 one.
If you do not require more than browsing the internet, working with office docs or basic computer games, don’t waste your money, I recommend this Toshiba Satellite L755-S5349 for everyday use, for $429, this machine will exceed your expectations!
