by Kimi on May 13, 2011

WordPress 3.2 Beta 1 is available to download!

Everyone was waiting for wordpress 3.2 release date, and now they can download the wordpress 3.2 beta 1 version to test anything but not in a live site, which means, you should install this wp offline in your local server.

Download wordpress 3.2 beta 1 here.

I have posted how to install wordpress offline, both for installing wordpress in Windows and installing wordpress in Mac Operating system using WAMP server and MAMP server.

Even in wordpress 3.2 beta download page, it is written that this testing version of wp should not be installed where your real online blog is.

This is because this is not yet a final version which can probably still go wrong.

I remember, even when it was already a final version (wordpress 3.1) so many people still find some issues, for example, the slow wp-admin problem.

If the final version can have possibility to cause some issues in your blog, so the testing version have bigger possibilities on this.

This beta is released so people can test it, and if they find bugs, they can report it here. That way, the developers can improve the coming files.

WordPress 3.2 Beta 1 – you can see what’s new!

I have created a video installing wordpress 3.2 here, so you can see in the video what’s new on the admin area, as well as wordpress 3.2 screenshots, which is not really different than this wordpress 3.2 beta 1 version installation.

But then, you can install wordpress locally instead in a cPanel like in the video. Watch that video and install this wordpress 3.2 beta 1 offline, either in Windows or Mac.

Before you install this beta version offline, firstly you need to check the wordpress 3.2 new PHP and MySQL requirements, also if you still use Internet Explorer 6 (which I doubt it) you should get the latest version too.

After setting up locally, you can then see these following new stuff on wp:

1. The whole admin page loads speedier than before.

2. Admin interface that is new, and the log out button is on the drop down menu.

3. Smaller font size, and different font family

4. Includes Twenty Eleven as the default theme, but Twenty Ten is still there, so it has two pre-installed theme.

5. Browse happy, to nofity people who still use old browser to have a better version

What I think:

The whole change is nice, but it is more to the appearance, although the admin page loads faster but the theme, Twenty Eleven theme’s header somehow loads slower than the whole stuff.

WordPress 3.2 Beta 1 Installing – Testing Video Tutorial

First of all, I admit I have a very terrible built-in microphone in my laptop, but the purpose why I am doing this tutorial with a built-in microphone is because I want to test it, also because my laptop uses Windows 7, although it is in German language, I am sure, you would not be confused about the buttons and stuff.

So before you watch the video, some things you would need to do first, download WAMP the newest version, and take a look at your PC specs, is it 32-bit or 64-bit system?

Mine is 64-bit that’s why I chose the right one. If you use Windows Vista, you can install it with this install wordpress locally windows, and if you use Mac OS, you can use this wordpress locally Mac tutorial.

So here is the video:

I hope this video can help you testing WordPress 3.2 Beta 1 in your local machine.
